Our business also draws on the skills and experience of dozens of local contractors and suppliers. In 2005, we spent more than $17 million buying local services and products to support our activities (leasing, drilling, facilities and pipeline construction, maintenance, etc). This new business activity helps to grow the local economy.
In addition, each community with a producing well receives town, county and school taxes based on production. This tax totaled $3 million in 2005. Fortuna Energy also believes that community organizations where we live and work should benefit from our operations. Donations are made to organizations that match our corporate guidelines and serve areas where we have facilities.

Fortuna Energy Inc. is the largest natural gas producer in New York State. In 2006 Trenton Black River (TBR) formations natural gas from 63 Fortuna Energy wells in the Southern Tier produced 40 BCF (Billion cubic feet) of gas, 73% of the 55 BCF of natural gas originating in New York State.
