At Fortuna Energy, we are committed to building positive, long lasting relationships in the communities in which we operate through open and honest communication.
To accomplish this goal, we will:
- Educate the public in our business,
- Keep interested parties apprised of our operations,
- Provide outreach to those affected by our presence,
- Participate in community activities, and
- Provide support to local organizations in order to better the communities in which we operate.
Landowner Relations
Being a responsible and welcome member of the communities in which we operate is an essential part of Fortuna's business strategy. Our reputation for honest dealings and integrity is critical in developing lasting relationships with landowners.
Fortuna listens closely to community concerns and plans our operations accordingly. We are sensitive to local communities as we transport our drilling equipment and supplies. Fortuna actively seeks to notify landowners about our operations and we provide movement schedules to local highway departments, emergency service centers, and school districts. Our employees and contractors adhere to traffic regulations and we routinely monitor compliance. Whenever possible, we schedule our road use around school activities and community events to mitigate traffic delays. Fortuna also waters private roads to keep dust down and works with public officials to ensure compliance with local noise ordinances.
Safety and the Environment
Our responsibility to safety and the environment is something we take very seriously at Fortuna. We strictly follow proven practices that minimize our environmental impact and strive to create an accident-free working environment. Fortuna meets or exceeds state and federal environmental protection regulations and maintains safe and clean job sites. Our wellsite reclamation process ensures that all property is ultimately restored to equivalent or better condition than when our operations began. We also restore private roads and provide resources to municipalities for restoration of roads used by Fortuna.
Community Relations
Fortuna conducts community open houses and instructs our vendors and contractors to be equally sensitive to local concerns. Our Good Neighbor Hotline (866-566-4747) was specifically created to receive and address any community questions or concerns about our operations.
Our philosophy of respecting the communities in which we operate has helped Fortuna become the most successful natural gas producer in the Twin Tiers. Since 2002, we have invested in the region in an effort to find and develop natural gas. Our operations bring direct benefits to communities including capital spending, expansion of local infrastructure, the creation of jobs, landowner lease and royalty payments, and support of meaningful and sustainable local initiatives. In addition, our business supports dozens of local contractors, suppliers, and service companies locating and investing in the Twin Tiers.
Fortuna's success is directly linked to the success of the communities in which we operate. Successful natural gas production is a cooperative effort among many parties including landowners, employees, contractors, suppliers, regulators, and public officials. Our Good Neighbor Program is an example of our commitment to operating with courtesy, respect, and integrity to help create opportunities for a bright future in the Twin Tiers.
